Bikes and Babes Show
5/12/12 The weatherman was promising 80% chance of rain which usually means a wash out but Jeff Salters, the organizer of Bikes and Babes Show went ahead with the show as planned. Friday night the party started with music by Duece Entertainment. I was a one motorhome campground across the street from the Broke Spoke. Oh well at least I didn't have to drive and the price was right, free. Saturday music started with Fantasy Productions, followed by the Ross King Band. Even with Shea Michaels and Company as the headline band, this band draws a lot of attention because they are ages 15 to 17 and play a very wide variety of music. They really put out some good music. The bike show was going on with only 7
bikes but some really awesome bikes. Next up was the bikini contest. Now come on, only about 50 bikes showed because of the 80% threat of rain but the girls showed up wondering where are the bikers? There was a decent crowd but most came in a cage. Some really hot young
ladies in this contest. I do believe their numbers were made with more material than the bikinis. At this time we got the only sprinkle of the day. Didn't bother the contestants at all. The show went on, they just couldn't understand where the bikers were. Next were the bike awards. I'm glad they judged by audience votes. This would have been a really hard decision. The 7 bikes participating kept a crowd around them all day. I did not catch the name of the owner of the blue chopper that won but I have to say all the bikes were winners just for being there and drawing a crowd. Shea Michaels and Company came on
next with their own style of music. I personally think this is one of the best bands on the Ms. Gulf Coast. Afterwards the Broke Spoke moved the entertainment indoors and had one heck of a party. Even with the weatherman's propaganda killing the crowd, I'm hearing that Jeff wants a Bikes and Babes/Weatherman rematch. Watch down the road for this to happen.

In Memory of Fellow Riders
4/30/12 In the last couple weeks, two of our fellow riders local to the Gulf Coast have tragically lost their lives in motorcycle accidents caused by neglect of automobile drivers.
On April 14th "Lt. Tom" as his Red and Gold family called him was killed by a teenage driver pulling out in front of him, shortly after posting a facebook message sayinIts GREAT to be home referring to his return from a training mission in Rhode Island.
Thomas Howard Weber
Saucier, MS
Formerly of Frankenmuth, MI
Thomas Howard Weber returned to his home in Saucier, Mississippi on Saturday after spending two weeks in training in Rhode Island and posted a message on Facebook that read, Its GREAT to be home. A very short time later, Thomas was ushered into his eternal home in heaven when the motorcycle he was driving struck a pickup truck that failed to see his oncoming bike. Thomas was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 4, 1986 to Keith Weber of Frankenmuth, Michigan and Heidi (Schmidt) Weber of Traverse City, Michigan; both survive him. Thomas attended St. Lorenz Lutheran School and Frankenmuth High School before following in the footsteps of his grandfathers and joining the United States Armed Forces in 2005 as a construction mechanic with the U.S. Navy Seabees. After completing basic training at the Naval Air Station in Great Lakes, Illinois and advance training in Port Hueneme, California, Thomas began a career that would take him around the globe. He served tours in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan doing what Seabees do besthelping others. In 2007 he was given the opportunity to be a part of the Pacific Partnership, a U.S. Navy humanitarian mission aboard the USS Peleliu bound for the Philippines, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and the Marshall Islands. He also found himself in Spain and Okinawa for a period of time, as well as in Haiti following the massive earthquake in 2010. Upon his return from Haiti, Tom became an integral part of an elite team of Sailors serving as Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen. As part of this Special Operation Forces unit, he worked diligently maintaining an inventory of small water craft used to support special operations missions worldwide, particularly those of the U.S. Navy SEALs. As a Seabee he was able to live their Can Do motto to the fullest, but those who knew Tom will tell you that he lived an entire life with that Can Do attitude. He was rarely without a smile, and always gave willingly of his time and energy to help others, but most of all he gave of his heart in a way that most could never understand.
A memorial was held by Lt. Tom's Red and Gold Family at the Salty Dawg Saloon.
. **** .

On April 19th "LA" as known by friends was tragically killed when thrown from his motorcycle by hitting a curb and being thrown into a tree while trying to dodge a woman in a car who pulled out in front of him.
Adam Wayne Baker, age 26, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012. Adam has worked as Service Manager at Mississippi Coast Harley Davidson since graduating high school.
A ride was put together with co workers and friends that traveled from Biloxi to Mobile, Al. for LA's Memorial.

Rumble on the Gulf
4/5/12 . Bikenite at the Silver Slipper started out with a loud Rumble. The bikes numbered
around 200 and the classic cars around 50. Along with the bike show, car show, giveaways, vendors, free slot tournament to riders, band upstairs, ladies night, they also
started this year's Rumble with the Bud Girls, live radio remote, Thunder Roads La. Magazine (also covering Ms. Gulf Coast) and one of the producers of LA Riders. Also all riders were given $5 in free slot play. A friend of mine turned that into $160. Not bad, having all that fun and walking out with a pocket full of money. And don't let me forget registration for the custom
chopper built by Outlaw Cycles in Covington to be given away in October. All in all it was a great start for their 2012 Rumble on the Gulf. Bikenite is every Thursday thru October so come on out for a great time and come hungry cause they have a great buffet with king crab legs and prime rib.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
RIDE TO DAUPHIN ISLAND
4/1/12 I headed out early Sunday morning to Mobile, Al. to meet a group for a ride to Dauphin Island. We all met at the Flea Market where we took a quick walk around and made a few purchases. When we left the flea market, we
decided to stop by Boondocks and check out the swap meet since some of our riders need
parts for their bikes. After a quick look around and some refreshments we headed out on a ride thru the country to Dauphin Island. But we stopped on the way at the Pelicans Reef for lunch where we met some very friendly locals
who offered to take us on a boat ride. It was tempting but we were already running late for the vintage bike show at the island. So after lunch we finally made it to the island just in time to miss the bike show. Oh well, we all enjoyed
the ride over and that's what it's all about. So
after a little horsing around and a few more beverages, we all headed towards home. Since some were from around Hattisburg, some from Mobile and some from Pensacola, I was the only one headed to the Ms. Gulf Coast. I think my bike has a drinking problem. I made the 90 mile trip home in a record 5 hours. But it's all about the ride, right?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
GOAL BENEFIT AND POKER RUN
3/31/12 A group of over 30 bikes met at M&F's Cycle Apparel to kick off the GOAL benefit
with a poker run. Later on the Marines bed races started at the American Legion in
Bay St. Louis. What a hoot! Then there was the balloon toss contest. Only the men
didn't seem to know the rules. The object was to keep catching balloons without them bursting. But everytime a lady had one burst on her, the men would cheer and holler wet t-shirt contest. Hmmmm. Some of the ladies learned to catch behind their
backs so as not to get wet. Well it looked like fun anyway. The riders were showing
up and the poker hands being tallied. There was a silent auction and Stevie Warren's
band was putting out some tunes. And finally at 5pm the grand finale. A ticket was pulled for one lucky winner for a brand new Ford Fiesta. On hand to draw was the Mayors of Bay St. Louis and Waveland. All I can say is that I am not the happy owner of a new car that gets better gas milage than my motorcycle.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
BIKENITE AT THE PITSTOP
3/28/12 Warm weather is back and bikenites are definitely back. Although I frequented bikenites all winter, the bikes were small in number. But,
with Spring arriving, riders are dusting off their bikes and hitting the local taverns for Bikenites. Wednesday night in Jefferson, La. the Pit Stop looks like the place to be.
With hundreds of bikes showing up it was nice to come in early and get a front row spot. The parking lot started filling up early. On bikenite they offer $2 longnecks, a foodstand, vendors (of course our good friends from Jandy's), giveaways and
more. There is one good sized group that hangs in all winter riding to the Pit Stop. It's those young guys with the need for speed.
You know the ones that ride those light weight, go fast bikes that sound like a hive of bees on steriods. Yeah, I was young and crazy once myself but, I'm still alive so guys have fun, look a little further down the road and be careful.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
BAMA BIKE FEST SPRING 2012
3/22/12 The first thing that comes to mind about this rally is one big party. It had rained for a few days before the rally so it was a little muddy at first but soon dryed. This did not
stop the crowd from rollin in. There were plenty of bike games during the day some
really good riders participating. At night on the stage was a really great band with a lead guitarist that played behind his back, with his
teeth, with his feet and with the Bikefest Babes. There were also many contests on the stage with what seemed to be skin to win. Away from the stage was plenty of party with pole dancing as the main attraction. Saturday afternoon it seemed someone had left the gate unlocked at the
dragstrip. Well you can guess what happened next. Boys will be boys. There was some really great heads up racing. I'll
have to say these guys did a really great job lining them up, flagging them off and paying attention to returning bikes. There were no accidents and some really good races. The spectators did an exceptionally good job too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
HUGGY'S COOKOUT
3/4/12
Huggy Bears Den is back and had it going on on Sunday. Huggy's has done a little
painting and remodeling on the inside but is coming back as the old Huggy's with $2 beer, cookouts and music on Sundays. Even though
the weather has been a factor, there was still a crowd for the cookout. A poker run passing thru
contributed to the crowd. Huggy had plenty of chicken and sausage on the grill along with his delicious potato salad. Seemed like everyone
had been anxiously waiting for a Sunday like this to ride. Although there was no band because of not being able to predict the weather, everyone seemed content just to
hang out and swap stories of rides and what is coming up as far as events. Huggy
says he will be watching the weather and get entertainment started as soon as it looks like a nice riding day is coming for Sunday. As of now Huggy's is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
NORTHSHORE H-D CAR SHOW
3/3/12 In spite of weather conditions, there were around 60 classic and muscle cars that showed up. The bikes were also there. With temps in the 50's, sprinkling rain and high winds I was amazed with the cars and
bikes that did show up. Though if the weather had been like Thursday, I don't think I'd have been able to park inside. I only live 25 miles away so my ride was not too bad and was well
worth it to see all these beautiful cars. One thing about it whether it be cars or bikes, boys are boys and toys are toys. There were also a few
late model muscle cars . Plenty to let your imagination wander and make you wish you had one of each. There was a band outdoors and food vendors. And also, the Silver Slipper advertising their Rumble on the Gulf to be starting April 5th with a beautiful Custom bike to
be given away this year. Inside there were plenty of people doing a little shopping for the newest motorcycle apparell. And the bell just kept ringing when people bought a new motorcycle. I guess they are getting ready for gas to hit $5 a gallon. Well anyway, welcome to our world of riders. Maybe if everyone would buy a bike and become bikers, we could straighten this country out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
RIDERS4RIDERS CHILLI COOK OFF
2/26/12 The cookoff was held at Boondocks on Airport Blvd. in Mobile, Alabama. And what a great place to have a cook off. They have
a fenced in backyard where there is bike parking only along with picnic benches, a band stage and an enclosed bar. Unfortunately on this day the weather was a little cool and a chance of rain so the band opted to play indoors. But it didn't stop the riders from hanging outside. If you're dressed to catch some wind, then
the cold is no problem. I guess there were around 50 bikes but there could have been more since I spent most of the time inside listening to the music of Velvet Sky. Inside is a nice bar with some good food
and some very friendly bartendars with personality++. They come from behind the bar to wait on you, calling you by name and are
never late with a drink. With the big crowd they served, I was very impressed with the service. When riding thru Mobile this is a great watering hole to stop by. It's several miles from the interstate but it's all about the ride isn't it. Okay, I'm losing track of what the benefit was for. I can't tell you what Riders4Riders do better than there mission statement so I'll just relay it: { Riders 4 Riders is a not-for-profit organization created to financially and/or personally aid those injured or lost due to a motorcycle accident. First and foremost our goal is to educate the public and promote motorcycle awareness throughout the community. We will serve the greater Mobile area striving to help others within a 40-mile radius of the Mobile airport. Financial and personal assistance will be dependent upon available funds, donation, and volunteers }. I love this group. Coming to the aid of fellow riders. And as we all know riders do more benefits than any other organization in America. I was able to meet several in their group and my hat is off to them for the hard work and time they donate. If you would like to read about their group, click on www.r4rmobile.org . I also met Michael Harrison who has a website similar to mine in Southern Alabama. If you are ever riding thru S. Alabama or the panhandle of Florida, you need to check out his calendar of events at www.escambiariders.com . Now, on
with the chilli cook off. There were around ten entries and 11 judges. After about an hour of tasting and judging, it was determined that
Alabama Choppers was the winner. All in all it
was a great ride with good music, good food and a whole bunch of friendly people.

CUSTOM KITTYS FISH FRY
2/25/12 Okay, after the Bike Show, I was ready for a road trip. So off to sunny Florida I went. Only not far enough down to hit sunshine. I headed to Pensacola to Custom Kittys for their yard sale and fish fry. Temperature was not what I like to ride in but nothing a full face helmet, ski jacket and gloves couldn't handle. I like riding in short sleeves and no helmet but I was quite comfortable and lovin the ride. When I arrived the sale was over and only 3 bikes in the parking
lot. Ahhhh! Did I miss it. No, I was informed everyone went on a ride and would be back shortly. The fish fry had started so I went on out back and got some really good redfish. A few
riders had a bon fire going. I didn't know anyone there but had no trouble fitting right in. Custom Kittys is a really cool little bar on the Blue Angel Parkway. They have a big fenced backyard for outdoor activities. The first time I visited this bar was on the Redneck Riviera Ride. Everyone
was so friendly, I just had to come back. No regrets, everyone coming back from their ride were just as friendly. Later on karaoke started
along with a birthday party. Looks like always a good time at Custom Kittys in Pensacola.

SOUTHERN BIKER NEWS BIKE SHOW
2/25/12 Nothing gets you in the mood for riding season more than a good Bike Show. This was the 2nd
Annual Bike Show at Edgewater Mall. Slo Mo, Tam and the Confederados MC did a great job in planning, organizing and running the show. There were plenty of bikes to check out and several different classes. Me, I guess I'm kinda partial to custom bikes and choppers. But there
were also some really nice vintage bikes, an old army bike with a sidecar, touring bikes and even a trike. And for the young guys and guys
that still think they are young, there were a few sport bikes...crotch rockets...organ donors or whatever you want to call them. The CMA was there to greet people and give out Bibles. M&F's Cycle was there with some of their goods. And also No Limit Enterprise from Vancleave was there with some goodies including their famous Boogey Lights. By the way they also have a shop where they do oil changes, sell and mount tires and some minor bike work. Remember this Bike Show next year. It's all
indoors so it's nice and warm and you are out of the elements. You can stop in for lunch at the food court with more than a dozen different food venues to choose from. And the most important part is the show is free!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
G.O.A.L. BLOCK PARTY
1/29/12 When I arrived at M&F's in Kiln, Ms. I was greeted by riders who had already been on an early morning ride. Hate I missed that but to make matters worse I was on 4 wheels. Both bikes down getting ready for Spring.
Sure looks like everyone has had enough of Winter although it has been mild. About a dozen
riders were revved and ready to go. It was killing me to watch everyone else ride off on two
wheels. Well, maybe I'll be back in the saddle next weekend. As I arrived at the block party at the Old Train Depot in Bay St. Louis, I was amazed to see over a hundred bikes. I didn't
realize it was going to be this big with blocked off up front parking for bikes and at least 3 bands played one after the other. There are
four bars and restuarants along Depot Row with a new one to be opened in February. Looks like the makings of some pretty good block parties. This block party was organized by G.O.A.L scholarship funds which was organized to help students in need to get an education. This year
a 2012 Ford Fiesta donated at dealer cost by Henderson ford will be raffles on March 31 to a lucky winner. Also in the silent auction was framed enclosed showcase with an autographed t-shirt by Drew Brees, autograhped hat by LeDante Moore, a pic of Drew Brees and a plaque with his records. All autographed after their win over Carolina. Many other prizes were
auctioned too. As the sun went down the temps were dropping quickly so the bikes were in a scramble to get on down the road. All in all it
a good party and great success for GOAL and the businesses involved. Great job Rick, Linda, and everyone involved in the organizing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
POKER RUN FOR DAVID JOHNSON
1/28/12 . I arrived as the poker run was arriving back at Anita's in Bay St. Louis with no camera so I'm sorry for no pictures. This run was thrown together very quickly in a short time to honor a man who passed after a hard fight with cancer. I will say that the organizers and Anita did an extreme job putting this together and all the way thru. When I arrived there were about 50 bikes in the parking lot and a bus for those who don't ride. Well over a hundred people there. They gave prizes for top 4 hands, which a lot was donated back to the family. Whoever collected the prizes to be auctioned did an outstanding job. I've never seen such a mass of tools and handy gagets to be auctioned at a poker run. Anita herself was the auctioneer and I think this may ber her second calling in life. Although she wasn't fast talking like that guy on Barrett's Custom Car Auctions you could understand everything she said and moved items quickly. She was able to pull off a great auction and collect some pretty good money. Some people got a really good deal and others got a prize but really gave from their heart. All I can say is it was very well put on and I had a great time seeing everyone out riding again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
LAST RIDE OF THE YEAR
12/30/11 This ride started around 15 years ago with a couple of guys putting together a RTE or Ride To Eat. Inviting riders from all over the country for a free cup of coffee and a free meal prize for the longest rider. I was told that the
first ride met at the original Stagecoach Cafe which is close to the Stockton, Al. location where we met. But I don't know what they mean
by close since there were so many Iron Butt Riders. These guys rode in from all
the country. I saw tags from Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and even as far off as California. I guess these guys just look for an excuse to ride cross country.
They sport stickers on their bikes with bragging rights as to how far in lenghts of time they ride. They refer to riders like me who take the back roads riding slow to enjoy the scenery as butterfly sniffers. Don't hurt my feelings though. As a matter of fact I refer to myself as a hopper riding short distances for events. I think I'll get a sticker proclaiming 30 bars in 3 hours on my hopper chopper. Many of these Iron Butt bikes were equipped with extra add on fuel tanks because they want to put on 4 or 5 hundred miles before stopping for fuel.
This Goldwing pulling a trailer is more than equipped for long distance full time riding. The luggage bag on the passenger seat is actually a spare fuel tank. There is an infared camera mounted on the front. The
rider was not around to ask but my guess is that he rides by watching the screen on his dash since it looks too high to see over. It is also equipped with not one but two GPS. As you can see by all the buttons, switches and gadgets, I couldn't even guess what all this bike has. I would probably have to take an aviator class to ride this one. There were all kinds of bikes.
Besides dirt bike racing, this was the first event I've been to where the Harleys were out numbered. But I did see a harley with a beautiful American Flag paint scheme that
had close to 300,000 miles on it. That's more oil changes than I care to do in my lifetime. There were some older bikes but
all were well maintained as you could tell when they cranked them. There were even a few 3-
wheelers on hand. I arrived at the Stagecoach around 8:30am with probably around 500 bikes already there. By noon time bikes had taken
over all the businesses and vacant lots across the road. Bikes were coming and going all
day but I going to guess there were over 1000 bikes. Some just stopped in long enough to say hi and hit the highway again. Some of us just dream of riding cross country. Some of these riders live the dream every day. These are the real bikers, the ones that really run the roads. Well, after talking to these IBA riders, we didn't want to ride straight home so we rode over to Spanish Fort, then back to Mississippi. They should at least give us a Butter Butt sticker for that.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
YOUR MAMAZ HOUSE CHRISTMAS PARTY
11/17/11 I guess since no bikes come out anymore for bikenite, it takes a Christmas
party and lighted boat cruise to bring out the bikes. Don't say cold weather has shut down bikenite cause it was cold that night and we had about 3 dozen bikes. The boat parade started
a little after 5pm. with a 2 hour cruise up the river and back to the bar for the party and prizes
Ten boats in all decorated with lights and disappeared into the night heading up river for the cruise. A few of the houses along the way
were having parties and bon fires awaiting the boats. It was a fun cruise with only one unscheduled event, my boat would not run! But a volunteer was quick to step in and pull the sail boat I had decorated. When we arrived back there was a crowd awaiting with sparklers. The
band, South of Ten started playing right after the return of the boats. Party was in full mode with a large crowd. This being the first year, we did not
what to expect but, were not dissappointed by any means. There were plenty of boats, bikes
and bodies. This party was dedicated to raising money to help with Christmas for needy families. There was a little over $1300 raised for this purpose thanks to the generous gift from Shallow Draft Charters. This gift was a 4 hour chartered fishing trip for 2. This really great prize was won by Chris Ladner. Remember Shallow Draft Charters for your next fishing trip. I am told by one of their regulars that they go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. As
a matter of fact, one of their boats was lighted and in the cruise. The party went into the night
with a visit by the fat man himself. It was a little chilly outside but most people braved the cold
with a little human anti-freeze to hear the band and spread a little Christmas cheer. There was also a raffle for a basket of cheer and a 50/50.
The money raised to help with Christmas went to a family with 5 children who lost everything in a house fire and a single mom with 3 children, trying to make her way thru school. Thanks to Your Mamaz House, the committee for the parade and all the sponsors who graciously donated their time and money to make this happen. I am told that this is only the beginning,
next year the planning will start early and hopes are for a huge parade with more sponsors and boats to raise more money for people in need
during the holidays.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
RIDE FOR ROCKY
11/19/11 It is always a good feeling to help out in a benefit but when the benefit is for a good friend, it gives you a little reality check.
Our friend Rocky is laid up in the hospital even as I write this story. I would love to say his last name but to tell the truth I don't know how to spell it or even pronounce it. But I can say Rocky is a good friend and rides on many benefit rides with us. Recently he suffered from a blood clot in his leg that caused an amputation. A group of his friends quickly put together a poker run to help raise money
for medical expenses which I'm sure will be tremendous. It is just hard to imagine that after riding all Summer on benefits and to bikenites with someone that the next thing would be a benefit for that person for a medical condition that caught me totally by suprise. The ride started at Anita's in Bay St. Louis. It went to
M&F's, Broke Spoke, Turtle Landing, VFW, and C&R's. These are all places Rocky is well known for the benefits he rides. There were other places that wanted in on the ride but I guess you can only have so many stops on a
poker run. I think I heard there were around 69 bikes in all. Thanks to all of Rocky's friends. I believe Rocky has a strong enough will that one day somehow he will be back out there riding with his many friends.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
GUMBO COOKOFF AND SAINTS PARTY
11/13/11 You can't get a better mix than a gumbo cookoff and Saints party. The party was set at Your Mamaz House. The gumbo was
cooked and donated by volunteers/contestants. The winning contestant was awarded a $50 bar tab. It was only $2 to test the 7 different gumbos and believe me they were all different. Not a one even resembled another in taste. Everyone testing was allowed to vote. All the money raised will go to needy families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I commend the cooks for the sucess of this event. They spent a lot of time preparing the gumbo, donated it and even paid a $5 fee to enter which also goes to the needy families. The Saints game was getting really
exciting by halftime, when the gumbo was served. If anyone left without a full belly, it was their own fault. I was full after one pass on all 7 gumbos. When the game started back after the half, the place was packed. The game just got better and better. Now most Saints fans know when it comes to playing the Dirty Birds, the Saints usually screw themselves in the final seconds. NOTSOTHISTIME! The place went
wild when the Saints pulled off their 26 -23 overtime victory. I haven't seen this much excitement at a Saints game since they went to
to the Superbowl. Next Thomas Edwards who was providing the post game entertainment, broke loose with the Who Dat song. Fans joined in and started the Saints March around the bar. Toasts were made and shots were passed. Thomas stayed for 4 more hours providing some really good rock n roll music. What a long great day. How could you beat a great game, some excellent gumbo (all you could eat for only $2) & some good entertainment all put together raising money for needy families. For more help with these needy families, Your Mamaz House has put together some prizes for raffle. One is a $2 per ticket chance to win a half day fishing excursion for 2 donated by Shallow Draft Charters. Another is a $1 ticket for a basket of holiday cheer. And a $1 ticket for a 50/50 raffle, all to be given away on Dec. 17th at Your Mamaz House Christmas Parade and Party. You can stop by Your Mamaz House anytime and purchase tickets. The lighted boat parade will start around dusk on Dec. 17th at Your Mamaz House at 12056 Cedar Lake Road in Biloxi, Ms. A special thanks to all the cooks, Ben and Susie, Johnnie, Jack, Sheryl, Suzie, Jojo and Cptn. Morgan for all the time, work and expense they put into making this benefit happen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
JANDY'S ANNIVERSARY PARTY
11/12/11 Another year gone by and Jandy's party is still as big as ever. Nice weather and good
entertainment always bring a crowd to Jandy's Anniversary Party. Not to mention
a super sale, free beer and other vendors. But I think the main thing drawing the crowd is knowing you will run into old friends and riding partners that you have not seen in years. With the numbers being
well up in the hundreds, you are sure to run into people you know. After all, everyone there rides. And Jandy's gets around quite
a bit theirselves. This year I've seen them continuiously at two different Bikenites and at least a half dozen rallies. No wonder this party is so popular.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
RED KNIGHTS POKER RUN
11/12/11 The newly formed Chapter 5 Red Knights put on their first poker run to raise money
for the families of fallen firefighters. Registration started at M&F's Cycle Apparell in Kiln, with stops at Anita's in B.S.L., Your Mamaz House in Biloxi, Nate's in Gulfport and Grog's in
Diamondhead. November and you couldn't ask for better riding weather. The ride went from the Kiln, down to Bay St. Louis, down the beach to Biloxi with a beautiful view of the Tchoutacabouffa River, thru the country to Gulfport and on thru more country to Diamondhead. Then back over to M&F's in the
Kiln for the prizes. Beautiful day for a ride and great bunch to ride with.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
R.O.T.G. GRAND FINALE 2011
10/27/11 The crowd started arriving early with everyone anticipating winning the Bigdog K-9 motorcycle which was the grand prize for this years Rumble on the Gulf. This was the third year of ROTG with a motorcycle being given away each year on the final night. Besides the grand prize, the Silver Slipper has also given $2 longnecks, a bike show and car show with trophies, free slot tournament for riders, vendors, trivia prizes, giveaways and a band upstairs on Bikenite.
Oct. 27th was the night for the Bigdog giveaway and when I say giveaway, I mean this was not a raffle. You did not have buy tickets. You simply ride in and go upstairs and pick up your free
tickets. Each week you ride in you were able to collect more tickets to better your chances. The drawing went down to four finalists and three alternates. The finalists all showed up in the time limit and each was given an envelope with a prize but only one winner for the Bigdog. The
grand prize winner was a lady out of Lousiana. All in all it was a great year and a lot of fun at the Silver Slippers Bikenite. For the effort and prizes the Silver Slipper provides, you can't argue, this is the best bikenite in Mississippi if not in the whole country.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
RUMBLE ON THE GULF
10/8/11 What an afternoon and night at the Slipper!
Hundreds of bikes and classic cars rolled into the parking lot at the Silver Slipper for Rumble
on the Gulf. Looked to me like a record number of bikes and classic cars. I guess it was expected to have a large crowd during the
Cruisin the Coast. It just seems to get bigger every year. Most of the classic cars arrived fairly early. Twice the normal parking was set up for
for the cruisers during this event. There were classic cars, hotrods, custom cars, trucks and
4-wheel drives. These cars sure bring back some memories. Just about every car I looked at had someone looking and saying they used to
own one just like it. There were several rare ones that I've never seen one like it before.
Some of the ideas they come up with these cars are outrageous, but what amazes me is seeing some of the cars that are kept in mint condition.
The Slipper had their normal trivia with t-shirt giveaways except this time there were more questions aimed at the cruisers than the motorcycles. Some really hard questions that someone really researched. But I didn't here a one that was unanswered. There cruisers really knew their cars. As darkness started to fall,
the motorcycles just seemed to keep pulling in. With some coming and some going, it was hard to get a count of the bikes but I think it may have
been a record number for bikenite. Upstairs there was plenty to do with the free slot play for riders and drivers, the great prime rib and crab leg buffet, Lil Fats playing onstage and of course the gaming tables. If you haven't seen Lil Fats before, you've missed a great show. As well as doing a great tribute to Fats Domino he also gets personal with the crowd making everyone have a good time. And by the way while inside the casino everyone was able to view the beautiful Bigdog K-9 the Slipper will be giving away on Oct. 27th. There is only a couple more bikenites left before then to ride in and get your free registration tickets. Always a good time at Rumble on the Gulf!

BIKENITE AT BEAR'S AND COSCINO'S
9/14/11 This is another Wednesday night happening in La. Bear's Grill and Spirit's and Coscino's Pizza
have teamed up to create a bikenite with plenty of fun, food, beverages and entertainment for everyone. I arrived a little early with only a few
bikes, but the band was already playing. Since both places have a good variety of food and both have food and drink specials, it is hard to choose which door to enter, so i went in both. I'm new in this area so I didn't know many people, but I will say everyone is friendly. The
male bikers were such gentlemen they would bend over backwards to let me take a picture of beauty. Well okay, they bent over frontwards but I guess we're all getting too old to bend over backwards and that even made for a better picture. As I exited the building, the band was
was jammin with some new people. Now there was probably over 50 bikes in the parking lot and a crowd was starting to draw. And who do I run into but Mr. St. Nick himself. That biker attire
don't fool me one bit. I see Sly Santa at all the bike events. He can do magic and change his looks. I've heard Cheech and Chong's story of Santa Claus and his magic dust.A little dust for Santa Claus, a little dust for the reindeer, a little more dust for Santa Claus and around the world he goes in one night. Must be some really good sh#t. When spotted, he may be 5'2" and 250lbs or 6'8" and 175lbs or anywhere in between, but that snow white hair and beard always gives him away everytime. And sometimes you may see him in 50 different sizes at one single event. I guess that's why people say bikers are the most generous people in America. A lot look like, act like and could be Santa. I guess that's why you have a couple hundred local biker poker runs and benefits a year. Well, since Santa is watchin tonight, I'm going home early.
One last look at the bikes and I'm outta here. This Bikenite is located in a Shopping center in the 1800 block of North Causeway Boulevard
Mandeville, LA 70471.

THE REDNECK RIVIERA RIDE
9/9/11 I have to start this story with the group that left from Louisiana. Small group of four but ours from Mississippi was even smaller with three. What happened to all those riders that are always talking about a ride to Flora Bama? It's only a two hour ride from Slidell where we started. Okay so it took us six hours but, we stopped at some really neat places and had some really cold beer. One place in Daphine, Al. was an antique shop with a bar and grill inside. Anyway we made it in time to check in and then hit the registration party at the Hangout in Gulf Shores. Yours truly forgot his camera so I had to borrow some pics from the ladies that put this on. They were the Mystical Order of Mirams and what a great job they did. I never got a count on how many registered but I know there was well over a hundred. Saturday morning we met at Champs where we were treated to break-
fast. We were also able to view the pink firetruck, pink bike and the pink tow truck from Ta Ta towing, all appropriate since the ride was to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
The weather was great and we blasted of for the first stop at Happy Harbors where we were greeted with live entertainment and more food. They had a whole buffet set up for us. It was also about beer thirty and they had some really cold beer. The ride was well organized and we
had very little problem staying together even with a group that big. Just about all the stops we made had food and some good drink prices. I was unable to make all the stops because a fellow rider had some bike problems and we just did what comes natural with bikers. I guess in my case was to stop to help but really don't know @*%# about a bike that won't crank.
Anyway we missed two stops but beat the ride to the 6th one which was Custom Kitty's in Pensacola. Oh yeah, I said Pensacola. This was about an 85 mile poker run with about 8 stops.
The ladies working at Custom Kittys kept us entertained with a little show and tell until the ride arrived. We also had an escort in the sky. I hope to get some pics taken from the plane. I really couldn't believe the day went by as quick
as it did with that many miles and that many stops. I really had a great time and can't say
enough about the great job they did and how well they treated all the riders. The ride ended at the Flora Bama where there was a tent set up outside with a couple full bars and and live band. The band was really good and a lot of people came out from inside which was alright because the ten was huge. We were treated to a
BBQ and the poker hands were checked for the winner of $1,000. And who do think won...well sure as heck wasn't me. All in all it was a great time and I met plenty of riders that were really good people. I'm sure I'll visit that area again and run up on some of them. Now I know the good bars to visit over there. This ride will be a good one to look for next year. The ladies are already making plans to grow this and who knows it may grow into a good close to home rally.

THE PIT STOP BIKENITE
9/7/11 In the past few years, Bikenites have sprung up everywhere but, the home of the original New Orleans Bikenite is McGuires Pit Stop at 4117 Jefferson Highway in Jefferson, La. on the outskirts of New Orleans. It all started
with The Pit Stop aiding a local bike group with a benefit and bikers looking for a new place to meet up with friends. In 1997 the Pit Stop came
up with the idea for a Bikenite. It quickly grew to a tremendous crowd on Wednesday nights. On a good night you can find 5 to 6 hundred bikes in and out. Yeah, I said 5 to 6 hundred. No exaggeration here, I've been there, seen that. The first time I heard of the Pit Stop was when I picked up a Louisiana Thunder Roads and saw an ad with an aerial photo. OMG! I had never been to a Bikenite at that time or seen a huge mass of bikes like that anywhere but at rallies. But I knew I had to see it for myself. At the time, I was living in Jackson, Ms. about 180 miles away and working a full time job. So it was vacation time for me. The guys I worked with doubted the picture in the ad saying it was enhanced, but when I showed them my pics they were in awe. Thru the years The Pit Stop has had many different things happening with bands, lingerie shows, food, giveaways and the cheapest price you will find on beer at any Bikenite. Well, last Wednesday, I made another trip since I haven't been in a few months. Same big crowd as usual. On Wednesday Sept. 21st, The Pit Stop will be hosting a celebration with their Big Time Bikenite. They will have more vendors, more great food, over $1000 worth of giveaways and Pig Pen and the Pork Chops putting out the tunes (by the way I had seen Pig Pen and the Pork Chops playing all over at Thunder Beach in Panama City before I ever knew they are from Louisiana). If you want to see a huge Bikenite you need to check this one out. This is a great layout with a huge concrete parking lot and everything laid out where there is plenty of room to mingle and no lines for beer or food. And hundreds and hundreds of bikes with every kind you want to see. The management and staff at The Pit Stop are about as friendly as
they come so drop on and tell them Ronzrides sent you.

SANDY HOOK LABOR DAY PARTY
9/1/11 As Thursday rolled around, Sandy Hook had the makings of "party as usual". Campers and motorhomes were rolling in at a steady
stream. The crowd was growing in spite of rumors of severe weather from tropical storm Lee. The first day was beautiful with a few clouds and little wind that helped cool things off.
This crowd was growing in spite of the weather rumors. Bikes, golf carts and home built vehicles of all kinds were already cruisin the grounds
looking for a party. As night fell the bands began to play and people wandered from party to party.
Yeah, this was definitely party as usual. At least for the first day and night. By morning everyone had listened to the weather channel and people calling from home. Some drug up and left for home but others were steady rolling in. I think the ones that were leaving were just worried about getting things at home ready for the storm. Friday was a really nice day and everything went on as planned. There were plenty of vendors and plenty to do. Our friends from Jandy's Apparel were there as usual, right up front next to the stage with their big tent. It had started sprinkling so their big tent was great shelter and a good view for the bikini contest and the band. By the way, Jandy's yearly party is set for Nov. 12th with food, beer, band and sell items. I've been for several years and can tell you, it is not one to miss. The band played late into the night. By morning reports of flooding at home got the best of us. We had to leave and go home to tie things down. I talked with several die hards who stayed and even though a lot had left the party went on. I'm jealous, wish I could have stayed.

BENEFIT FOR BRETT
7/30/11 Another well organized poker run with over 70 bikes and a few cages. Thanks to BCN Cycle Works in Ocean Springs for the hard
work they put into organizing the run.BCN's is located right in front of the Stagecoach Lounge. The day was hot but there was plenty
of good air conditioning at the stops. The Asgards MC, Ghost Riders and the new Mississippi Riders all showed up in numbers to support this benefit. And once again at a benefit we Meet the Fockers. This is a riding group from
Ms., Al. and La. that hits many benefits across the Gulf Coast area. If there is not a benefit they plan a fun ride just about every weekend. And of
you wouldn't know it was the Fockers if they didn't give us the traditional Focker Wave. There is always a little more fun and excitement added to the ride when the Fockers are present. There were a few new stops to me with Roy's Bar in Pascagoula, Sioux Bayou in Gautier, Castaways
in Ocean Springs, Henry's Too in De iberville and the final stop being the popular Your Mamaz
House Bar and Grill in Biloxi, Ms. The organizers did an outstanding job with plenty of food at the end.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MEET AT THE CREEK
6/27/11 Sometimes I wonder why people travel so far for a good motorcycle rally. Then I remember that it's all about the ride. Now with gas prices so high some may have to stay a little closer to home. One of my
favorite rallies close to the Gulf Coast is Meet on the Creek held on Silver Creek in Mt. Hermon, La., just east of Kentwood, La. Although it has
not developed into a huge rally there is plenty of room at the campground to grow with over 100 acres and over 200 campsites with electric hookups. The campgrounds also a feature acres of trails for atv's. Atv's, utv's and golf carts are
welcome at this rally although in the campgrounds the speed limit is 5 mph so take the speed to the trails. The rally has bands, vendors, bike show, adult contests, adult pool, games and more. Speaking of more, there is a
also a mud pit for your entertainment. There are not too many 4 wheelers that can make it from one end to the other and back without getting stuck. And after the races there is always mud
wrestling. This is true mud wrestling with real gumbo mud, not the imported kind. And if that is not enough mud entertainment, there is a new
sport called mud jogging. Don't worry mom, no need to do dirty laundry. However, the spectators seem to have more fun than the competitors. During the day there are plenty of
bike games such as the weinie bite, slow race, road kill and a few they make up. The games
and bike show last most of the day so it is a great time to get rid of all those unwanted tan
lines. Speaking of which there is a full size in ground pool with plenty of great scenery to just sit and chill out. At night there is plenty of entertainment with bands and adult contests.
And if that's not enough there is also the campsite parties. I have seen it all with everything from massage benches to pole dancing. I really think that a primitive form of pole dancing originated here about 8 years ago with a big tree stump that was used for a stage. Well after a couple years the stump had to be removed as it was getting harder and harder to remove splinters the next day so the new artificial stages have taken the place. I'll have to mention that the first year I went there was mass flooding and the creek was over the road. Not to worry, they put us, bikes and all on a trailer and pulled us across with a tractor. Nothing stops this party. But don't worry it hasn't happened since and that was the year it flooded the rally at the Styx River in Alabama. This event will be held July 15-17 so if you like adult rallies and a good price of $25 per person, then mark it on your calendar. For more info or camping call 985-877-4256.

HITCH FOR HIGBIE POKER RUN
6/11/11 In February, Brent Higbie was involved in an auto accident leaving him in a coma and little hope for a normal life according to doctors. His father was referred to Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. where after surgeries and therapy, Brent has since come out of the coma and passed his first step to recovery. The purpose of this poker run organized by Aletta and Lisa was two fold, first to raise money to help with expenses for Brent's father traveling back and forth to Atlanta and
second to bring awareness to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Registration was at Just 1 More and the run stopped at Gautier American Legion, Inn Zone, Your Mamaz House, Billiards-N-Bistro and ending at Knuckleheads with the
the party and raffles. The poker run was well organized with free food at every stop. The
raffles had some very nice gifts donated by various businesses. At Knuckleheads there was
good band playing some good old rock n roll. The money raised will help to make sure Brent's father can make his trips to Atlanta and help with Brent's recovery.

GATOR'S ALUMINATING POLISHERS before: taken in the brightest time of the day
after: taken as the sun was going down.
The man's work speaks for itself. He creates a mirror shine that no one can beat. He specializes in polishing aluminum and chrome on Harleys, classic cars, hotrods, boats, rv's or anything that you are proud of. He is also a full detail service. After 2 years of brake dust eating into my wheels, I could no longer get them to shine. So after another 5 years of no scrubbing, my wheels on the front looked like flat black paint. One trip to Gators and they looked so new I had to look twice to make sure it was my truck. He has also polished my Bigdog and believe me he can make the aluminum look like mirror shine chrome. Gators is located in the back of Diamondhead at 16820 Kapalama Rd. If you can't turn it loose for a whole day, call for an appointment at 228-596-1605.

THE SMOKESTOP This is just an ole country store with good, friendly people. It is located at 8441 Kiln Delisle Rd. or Exit 20 off I-10 and go 1 mile North. There is some great country riding up that way and this is the perfect country store to take a break for refreshments, cokes, beer, restroom, gas or smokes. They have a grill with prepared fresh food. They even have a covered picnic table to relax and tell war stories. I met the owners at a bike rally. Many will remember them from BON Party USA 2011 where they volunteered to cook and serve free breakfasts for over 150 bikers 2 mornings in a row. This was their way of saying thanks for the great times they have had at bike rallies. I always say support those who support you.

KENNY'S SHOE AND BOOT REPAIR
I have a pair of Harley riding boots that have been my favorite for several years. When the soles and heels wore out, I was no longer able to find this western style that would fit over my ankle since it is bigger now that it has been broken. I could not find any other western style riding boot that would fit over my ankle. I finally took my boots over to Kenny's and had them resoled and new heels. Great job at a great price! The soles have now lasted almost twice as long and still have plenty. Don't throw away those old boots if you like them! Take them to Kenny's at 2575 Pass Road in Biloxi, Ms. He also sews patches and has leather goods, gloves, helmets, dew rags etc.

LAKESHORE BODY SHOP
Some say you can judge the work a shop does by the cleanliness and order of their tools. At this shop you can start on the outside with appearance. A tropical garden with a fountain and no junk cars piled up everywhere. Inside a nice lobby as clean as anyone's house, restroom cleaner than mine, floors clean, windows clean, makes me ashamed to go home. The shop, OMG, do they really do body work in here? It is too clean! If I had not seen the work going on, I wouldn't believe it. The place just reeks with pride. They boast 2 state of the art down draft spray booths and a top of the line precision paint mixer. From experience I'll tell you they are top knotch. For your auto body needs, this is the place. 228-467-1535
